THIS IS MY RESUBMISSION FOR MY STOP MOTION EVALUATION IN ORDER TO BOOST MY FINAL GRADE TO MERIT :)

Red Bull: Stop-motion evaluation
Assessment
What you tried to achieve:
I attempted to create an advert for Red Bull. The basic idea was that until the character in my clip gets his daily dose of Red Bull, everything seems to go wrong for him. Examples include him being frightened by a dog, getting wet when he steps into a puddle and finally tripping over in the middle of the street for everyone to see!
Feedback:
When I had completed the first edit of my stop motion, I decided to screen it to my peers in order to gain additional opinions and views and for ideas of how to improve my advertisement. The general consensus was that my stop-motion was good, but some offered up ideas of ways I could make it better. Generally, the feedback I received from my peers was positively reassuring; especially considering it was only my first draft. It made me feel confident that with further improvements, I would able to submit an advert of good quality! Craig Taylor, who rated my advert nine out of ten, commented that he thought the music was suitable. Travis Mitchell called the music used “upbeat and lively” said the sound effects used helped to “complete the video”, he rated my clip eight out of ten. Nick Hargreaves, who also rated my stop-motion nine out of ten, commented that the sound effects I used “helped the product”. When I asked him to elaborate further, he said that they made the advert feel much more fun to watch and more effective. Conor Folks, who gave my advert a nine, said the sound effects added “comedic value” to the advertisement.
What I’ve noticed:
When the character is indoors, I’ve noticed that the white balance is off on several of the photos, which had also been noticed by several people who have seen the advert. This causes the hue on several of the photos to seem inconsistent which interrupts the flow of the advert. I’ve also noticed that on the approach to the shot, Sian’s shadow is noticeable on several of the photos. It’s incredibly obvious and makes the advert seem rather unprofessional. As such, these are the two faults I shall be focusing on when I have more time to improve my stop-motion.
Final comments:
Overall, I am satisfied with my submitted stop-motion but will be happier when I find the time to find the time to correct the white balance issues when indoors and Sian’s shadow on the approach to the shop. I am pleased I gathered the opinions of the class as I believe this helped me to improve the clip when I went back to edit it further. Additionally, I’m pleased at the inclusion of the special effects (ie, the dog on the wall, the puddle and the rainbow rings at the end).

Red Bull: Stop-motion evaluation
Final assessment
What you tried to achieve:
I attempted to create an advert for Red Bull. The basic idea was that until the character gets Red Bull, everything seems to go wrong for him (ie; being frightened by a dog, getting wet when he steps into a puddle and finally tripping over in the middle of the street for everyone to see).
Decisions made:
I initially wanted to add a couple of special effects into the advert but due to my poor attendance, I didn’t get the time. An example of a special effect I had intended to include was a barking dog but thankfully, the advert does still work without it.
Feedback:
Generally, the feedback from my peers was excellent! My lowest score (out of 10) was 7 and my highest score was 10! The general consensus was that the music and sound effects included were of great relevance and added a lot to the advert! The vast majority (90%+) of reviewers said that they both understood and enjoyed the advert.
What I’m going to do now:
Hopefully, over the next few weeks, I will be able to set a few hours aside in order to add the special effects I had initially intended to include!
I have now fully completed my key skills unit. The second problem I tackled was much more interesting to me on a personal level, as it involved finding a suitable course for university. I have enquired about ‘Broadcast Journalism’ at Leeds University and am incredibly interested. There are other universities in the north of England that I could study the same or similar courses at; so it’s just a case of getting my head next year in order to achieve the grades I need next year on the Extended Diploma. I’ll also be attending some open days later in the year!
I have also handed in my pre-production for my Radio Drama which I neglected to hand in a few months ago when I submitted the finished edit.
January 31st, 2012
I spent the day working on the ‘Key Skills’ unit that we are doing with Helen. I completed a double page “Agony Uncle” that would be part of a magazine. My work can be viewed using the link below.

February 1st, 2012
Myself and Sian spent the morning off campus creating our stop motion, an advert for the energy drink ‘Red Bull’. We struck extremely lucky with the weather as there was little wind and blue skies, a weather scenario that we haven’t seen much of this winter! We had a lot of fun and once we got going, producing the stop motion was a smooth process. Hopefully we will start editing this afternoon with a little bit of help from Helen!
Monday, January 30th - Complete pre-production and book out the necessary equipment
Monday, February 6th - Create the advert. If the weather is against us or we need more time, we may ask Tom if we can use this weeks tutorial session to finish it off
Monday, February 13th - Not in college

To be completed
Our advert is for an energy drink - red bull. And therefore it’s going to be aimed at certain people. Energy drinks are very popular with students, especially the monster brand. Our advert will feature a teenager (myself) in an attempt to poach some Monster customers. In terms of previous Red Bull adverts, ours will be completely different as all past adverts have been animated whereas ours will be live action. However, we will be making use of the “Red Bull gives you wings” tagline. Special effects will be required: spitting of the rainbow and the wings appearing on back. There will be no dialogue in the advert but an audio track will be present. Tim Myers “Simply Wonderful”
